Belmont Minimum Wage Ordinance
As of January 1, 2025, the minimum wage in the City of Belmont is $18.30 per hour. Effective January 1, 2026, the minimum wage in the City of Belmont will be $18.95 per hour. Covered employees include anyone who performs two hours or more of work per week within the geographic boundaries of the city, including those under the age of 18.
In 2017, the Belmont City Council adopted a Minimum Wage Ordinance setting a required minimum wage for employees who work within the City of Belmont. The Ordinance adjusts the minimum wage annually on January 1 by the lesser of 3.5% or the prior year’s increase, if any, in the regional Consumer Price Index (CPI). In 2023, the Council amended the Ordinance to add a CPI catch-up provision, allowing business owners to continue easing into the current inflationary climate while ensuring employees do not see an erosion of wages over time, and to round wage adjustments to the nearest five cents.
