Measure K: City of Belmont Transient Occupancy (Hotel Room) Tax Measure
On July 26, 2022, Belmont City Council placed Measure K, a locally-controlled hotel tax, on the November ballot for voter consideration.
Measure K proposes a two percentage point adjustment to the transient occupancy tax, or "hotel tax" rate, which guests pay when staying at hotels or lodging facilities in Belmont for less than 30 days. Measure K does not tax residents of Belmont who do not stay at the City’s hotels or lodging facilities, nor does it tax the businesses running these facilities.
If enacted, Measure K funding can not be taken by the State and could be used to provide funding for general City services such as fixing potholes; repairing streets and sidewalks; maintaining 911 emergency response times; keeping public areas healthy, safe, and clean; and maintaining senior services including health, nutrition and transportation programs.
Additional information regarding Measure K is available below.
