The City Council formed a City Council Public Safety Committee at it's regular meeting on September 14, 2021.  The body consist of the current vice-mayor who serves as chair, and one rotating at large councilmember who is selected annually from among the remaining councilmembers.

The Public Safety Committee’s duties are to consider policy matters related to police and public safety services in Belmont, provide a forum for presentation and discussion of specific information related to public safety policy and practices to:

  • Facilitate transparent communication about public safety policies and procedures,
  • Assess public requests, and
  • Facilitate mutual understanding of public safety issues and services in Belmont.

The Public Safety Committee normally meets once a quarter at 2:30 pm in the EOC 2nd floor of City Hall.  The date, time and location is subject to change. The meetings are open to the public, in person and a virtual option is available for public participation.
