You can submit an application at any time. Recruitments usually begin in late fall for expiring terms. Find the application in the links below.
Application Process
Complete this application form by January 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. to submit your interest, or contact the City Clerk's office at 650-595-7414, cclerk@belmont.gov.
Applications must be submitted to be considered for any Commission. Youth applicants must have a consent form signed by their Parent/Guardian at the time they submit their application.
Applications may be obtained at the Belmont City Clerk’s Office One Twin Pines Lane, Suite 330, Belmont, CA 94002, or by calling 650-595-7414. Incumbent commissioners are eligible to reapply for additional terms.
Commission seats typically expire in March. The annual recruitment process begins in November with interviews taking place in February, although application can be made at any time.
Available Positions
- Planning Commission: 3 openings for three-year terms. Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. The Commission reviews planning applications and advises the City Council on zoning and land use.
- Parks and Recreation Commission: 2 openings for two-year terms. Meetings occur on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM. The Commission provides recommendations on parks and recreation programs and capital improvements.
- Youth Seats on Parks and Recreation Commission: 2 openings for residents aged 13-17, with parental consent required. These are non-voting positions for one-year terms.
