PARKING AND TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE

Neighborhood Traffic Calming Requests

 

  1. Install speed cameras on 5th, 6th, Harbor, and Sunnyslope.
  2. Install roundabouts on Broadway, 5th Ave, 6th Ave, Sunnyslope Ave., and Harbor Blvd.
  3. Conduct direct traffic enforcement of speeding drivers and drivers not stopping at the stop signs.
  4. Narrow streets in the neighborhood, provide other traffic calming measures, such as landscaping, planter installation, diagonal parking.
  5. Barricade Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue at the border with San Carlos so it cannot be used as a cut-through.
  6. Install speed bumps in the neighborhood.
  7. Close 6th Avenue at Ralston Ave to avoid using it as cut through.
  8. Install a traffic signal at 5th Ave/El Camino Real and reduce the road to one lane of traffic.
  9. Make 5th Ave and 6th Ave one-way streets.
  10. Install “No Left and No Right turns”, 6-8 AM, 3-5 PM on O’Neill at 6th Ave to avoid cut-through traffic from El Camino Real.
  11. Install more signage showing speed limit, “SLOW DOWN”,
  12. Reduce the road width by installing a landscaped median on Harbor Blvd., 5th Ave., and 6th Ave.
  13. Install speed humps on 6th Ave between Lane St. and Harbor Blvd.
  14. Install traffic calming measures on Molitor Road.

 

Neighborhood Parking Requests

 

  1. Establish residential permit parking in the neighborhood.
  2. Establish diagonal parking on 5th and 6th Ave.
  3. Establish a No Parking zone on northbound El Camino Real at Ralston (near Caltrain parking lot).

 

Individual Requests

 

  1. Install speed bump in front of 1342 6th Ave.
  2. Install stop sign on Sunnyslope Avenue/O’Neill Ave
  3. Install “Blind Curve” sign on Harbor Blvd at the curve and lower a speed limit here.
  4. Paint crosswalks on O’Neill/Fifth Ave.
  5. Talbryn Drive at Paloma:
    1. Install signage “No Commercial Vehicles”
    2. Add signage “Vehicles over 3 tons require permit”, “Oversized Loads/Permit required”
    3. Conduct CCTV monitoring 24/7 with signage stating “Cameras recording weight bearing vehicles over 3 tons”
    4. Install barriers allowing only standard vehicle width access
    5. Paint a dividing line with the following verbiage” Stay in the lane you are traveling in”
    6. Enforcement of the 4-way stop at Talbryn/Paloma
  6. Install signs “Drive like your children live here” on Molitor Rd and on Sunnyslope Ave.
  7. Install red curb between 1317 and 1326 6th Avenue and at the driveways there to eliminate parking that blocks driveways.
