May 29, 2020 Camp SOAR COVID-19 UPDATE :

Hello Camp SOAR families,

As a result of the latest County Health Order, Camp SOAR will be offering three consecutive week sessions (June 15-July 2 and July 6-July 24) and ending camp with a two consecutive week session (July 27-August 7) at this time.

Starting Saturday, May 30, the “new” Camp SOAR program registration will be open to everyone.  Because there are limited spaces available, we recommend you sign up as soon as possible to ensure your placement. We have discounted fees each session by 10% for registrations in both Hawks and Eagles programs.

We recognize that these changes may pose challenges for your family’s Summer planning. If you have questions regarding camp you can refer to the FAQ document on our website, but please feel free to contact us at (650) 595-7441 with additional questions.

We are excited to be bringing Camp SOAR to Belmont’s children and their families. Belmont Parks & Rec will do everything we can to maintain the amazingly, excitingly, outrageously fun experience you have come to expect from us. We hope to see you all this Summer!

 CAMP SOAR CHANGES:

  • Camp hours will be 8:30am-5:00pm for all campers.

  • Extended care (5-6pm) will no longer be available.

  • Hawks will be located at the Barrett Community Center. Eagles will remain at the Twin Pines Lodge.

  • Cancellation of all offsite excursions, aquatic activities, cooking, and group activities.

  • Partial day enrollments will no longer be available.

  • No individuals other than participants, camp staff, and cleaning staff will be allowed to enter Camp SOAR indoor facilities. Parents/guardians, other City staff, and the general public must remain outside the facility. This is to ensure that our childcare spaces remain free from exposure as much as possible.

We have updated our COVID-19 Camp SOAR FAQ document and have listed the top 3 FAQ’s below:

Q: What is the new Camp SOAR price for 2020?

A: We have discounted fees each session by 10% for registrations in both Hawks and Eagles. Beyond camp operations, the fees also help defray costs associated with providing extra COVID-19 precautions (increased custodial services), lower staff to child ratios, and additional COVID-related equipment purchased for camp.

Q: I signed up for Camp SOAR before May 27, what do I do now?

A: All previous weekly registrations have been issued account credits as of May 29, 2020. You may apply your account credit to any Belmont Parks and Recreation program, as credits do not expire.

Q: How do I get my money back and not an account credit?

A: Requests can be made online starting July 1, 2020 and will be open until August 31, 2020. Once the request is received, staff will process the request within three weeks of submission. If you elect to maintain a balance on your account to be used for future activity registrations with Belmont Parks & Recreation, no action is needed.
