Discover Poetry in Our Parks
"Decode Poetry," a Project POETRY 360 initiative conceptualized and curated by Belmont Poet Laureate Monica Korde, has occurred during April, National Poetry Month, in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Each April, a new collection of poetry was highlighted via QR codes placed on signage throughout Belmont's neighborhoods and parks. April 2022 featured local Bay Area poets, April 2023 featured intergenerational poets (ranging from 8 to 80 years old), and April 2024 featured multi-generational poets with a focus on youth.
This initiative has integrated poetry into Belmont's communal spaces, spotlighting the creations of local poets through both virtual and physical platforms. It has represented a fusion of art and technology, bringing people and poetry together.
Each year, featured poets also participated in a Poetry Month Celebration, held in-person in Twin Pines Park and available to all members of the community. Highlights of this event can be found here.
