Returning Swimmers/Users:

100% of the Swim Lesson Program has been revamped. Please review each new level closely here.

Private Lessons for youth, adults, and adaptive are now available for the 2026 season!

Each summer, we bring the community drop-in and pre-registered swim programs for all ages at Carlmont High Swimming Pool, 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont, CA. All instructors and lifeguards are City staff.

The Carlmont High School Swimming Pool has a max depth of 7 feet and an average water temperature of 79-81 degrees. Rash guards are encouraged for swim lessons when it's windy or cloudy.

Swimmer Aide applications open on Monday, January 05, 2026. Application and Reference Form are due by end of day Sunday, March 22, 2026. In-person interviews will be scheduled for April 6 - April 17, 2026.

Preschool Aquatics (Ages 4 - 5)

2026 Session Dates

Session 1: June 22 - July 2

Session 2: July 6 - July 16

Session 3: July 20 - July 30

Belmont Resident Fee: $140 per session (8 classes)

Non-Resident Fee: $165 per session (8 classes)

Times
Each two-week session runs Monday - Thursday for 25 minutes daily, starting at one of the following times:

Mornings: 10, 10:30, 11, and 11:30 AM

Afternoons: 3, 3:30, 4, and 4:30 PM

Levels:

Preschool Aquatics I: Ratio is 1 instructor to 4 students

Preschool Aquatics II: Ratio is 1 instructor to 4 students

Preschool Aquatics III: Ratio is 1 instructor to 5 students

Learn To Swim (Ages 6 - 12)

Pre-Swim Team (Ages 8 - 16)

Non-Resident Fee: $280 per session (8 classes)

Each two-week session runs Monday - Thursday for 45 minutes daily, starting at one of the following times: 10:10 AM or 3:10 PM

Description
This class is for students who have successfully completed Level V. The instructor does not enter the water during Pre-Swim Team classes. This is a coach-style class. The ratio is 1 instructor/coach per 10 students, using up to two lanes.

Private Swim Lessons - Youth, Adults, and Adaptive

Private swim lessons are offered during specific times on weekday mornings. Afternoon availability is typically not available due to the high demand for group lessons.

Private lessons are available for ages 3 and up. Each Private lesson is 25 minutes long and each session is Mon-Thur (4 days) for 1 week only.

Belmont Residents: $160 per session

Non-Residents: $192 per session

Double Enrollment:
We do not allow enrolling in consecutive private lessons in the same session period as this may prevent others from joining the program.

Recreation and Lap Swim (All Ages)

Monday-Friday

*Closed Friday, July 3rd

Times
**Lap Swim: 12:00 - 2:50 PM Mon-Thur and Fridays 12:30 - 2:50 PM
Recreation/Open Swim: 1:00 - 2:50 PM
**Friday lap swim starts at 12:30 PM due to staff trainings.

Fees
Debit or credit cards are only accepted. No cash allowed. 10 and 20 Visit passes expire at the end of the pool season (July 31, 2026). Anyone entering the aquatics facility during lap or recreation swim must pay an admission fee.

Children 7 and younger must be always accompanied by an adult, within arm's reach until they can pass the deep-water swim test.

Fees are as follows.
Drop-In Pass: $8.00 Per Person
10-Visit Pass: $75.00 Per Person ($7.50 per visit)
20-Visit Pass: $140.00 Per Person ($7.00 per visit)

Anyone entering the aquatics facility during lap or recreation swim must pay an admission fee.

Swimmer Aide Program (Ages 13 - 17)

Aimed at ages 13 - 17, the Swimmer Aide Program builds skills in teaching swimming lessons, stroke technique, and lifesaving skills while you work alongside City aquatics staff and gain community service hours. It's also an excellent segue to becoming a City Lifeguard or Swim Instructor!
