We've entered a new decade!
This momentous milestone is a perfect time to look to the future and assess the City’s upcoming recreational needs. To that end, the Parks and Recreation Department has recently embarked on a Master Planning effort to develop, with vital input from the Belmont Community, the vision for Belmont’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space. While the horizon of this new plan will ‘only’ look 15 years ahead, it’s helpful to first take a moment to reflect upon how recreation, technology, health and wellness, leisure time, economic and environmental factors, and more, have evolved since Belmont’s early days and, more recently, since the City last developed such a plan in 1992, and how these elements may change in the coming decades.

The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan will include community outreach and engagement to help determine short- and long-term improvements in our existing parks, fields, and open spaces, as well as opportunities for new parks or new amenities throughout the City. We look forward to working with the you to make our parks, recreation, and open spaces
the best they can be!
