Welcome to the City of Belmont's all-hazards Emergency Resources page. Our mission is to equip residents, businesses, and visitors with the knowledge and tools to stay safe during emergencies, from wildfires and earthquakes to floods and severe weather events.

Emergencies can happen when we least expect them, but being prepared makes all the difference. During a major disaster, much of the key infrastructure will not be working, so planning and preparing for this may save your life. This page is your go-to resource to help you and your family prepare for emergencies.

Preparedness is a team effort! By staying informed, creating a plan, and preparing your property, we can work together to build a safer, more resilient community.

Plan Ahead

Earthquake Preparedness

Earthquakes are a matter of when, not if. Here's how to stay prepared:

Resolve to Be Ready: Take steps to protect yourself and your family from earthquakes and view the Earthquake Preparedness Tips.
Drop, Cover, and Hold: Practice these critical actions during an earthquake.

Flood Preparedness

Floods can happen everywhere, making them one of the country's most common natural disasters. Flooding poses a greater threat in low-lying areas, near water, and downstream from dams. Even the smallest streams, creek beds storm drains can overflow and create flooding.

During periods of heavy rain or extended periods of steady rain, be aware of the possibility of a flood. Flash floods develop quickly - anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Listen to local weather reports such as NOAA for flooding information.
