Wireless (2)

The City’s wireless telecommunications regulations were established in 1987, and last updated in 1996. Since then, a lot has changed in terms of cell phone ownership, usage, technology, and distribution. State and federal regulations for wireless facilities have also undergone significant modifications in the last 24 years.

The City is currently undergoing revisions to the Wireless Facilities Ordinance to come into alignment with State and Federal guidelines.  The City is also endeavoring to establish robust wireless services to meet the needs of the community, while minimizing the potential aesthetic impacts of these facilities.

BACKGROUND
The City’s authority to regulate wireless telecommunication facilities has diminished over time, as various state and federal regulations have been adopted.  You can read about the wireless facilities background here.
