Weaving Sustainability into City Planning

In addition to our dedicated 2017 Climate Action Plan, the City strives to integrate sustainability into all of our short and long rang planning. To see our latest priorities (updated in Q1 annually), please visit the Citywide Strategic Plan Dashboard. The Belmont General Plan serves as the City's primary guide for development, housing, transportation, environmental quality, public services, and parks and open spaces. In addition, the following planning documents have sustainability implications.

Projects & Initiatives

Green Power Partner Partnership

The City of Belmont has joined the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Green Power Partnership, pledging to reduce the negative health impacts of air emissions through the following actions.
  • Adoption of a Climate Action Plan (CAP). The 2017 CAP lays out specific targets and actions to decrease municipal emissions and support an economically and environmentally sustainable future.
  • Upgraded to Peninsula Clean Energy's ECO100. We have been a member of Peninsula Clean Energy since its inception in 2016 and have upgrade to their ECO100 plan, ensuring all municipal facilities are powered by 100% renewable energy.
