The Audit Committee and City Council have accepted the following as the City's Financial Policies.

The City of Belmont is a best practice city and incorporates Best Practices and Advisories issued annually by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and from other sources. GFOA Best Practices and Advisories identify specific policies and procedures contributing to improved government management. These policies are used by staff to identify enhanced techniques and provide information about effective strategies when topics arise. They are not prescriptive but are formative.

In addition, the City's annual budget document includes a Financial Policies section, which serves as a reference for the most critical policies, central to the continued financial health of our local government.
