Samtrans Bus Route Revisions in Belmont The San Mateo County Transit District is making some improvements to existing routes in and around Belmont. The good news is, none of the routes that serve any schools will be changed and no service reductions are anticipated. Some routes will be consolidated and made more efficient due to lack of ridership. There is also ample opportunity for the public to participate in the Reimagine Samtrans effort. For more information about the effort, visit Reimagine SamTrans. And for more information about the recent presentation by Samtrans to City Council – click here. This is a great reminder, if there is bus service that you and especially school-aged children can benefit from, now is a great time to get yourselves and the kids out of the car and out of traffic, and onto public transit for school-based trips, even if only one or two days a week! |
Belmont Creek Dredging On October 12th and 13th, dredging took place in Belmont Creek from El Camino Real to Old County Road near Harbor Boulevard. The Public Works Stormwater Maintenance Crew setup three coffer dams to stop water flow and installed a pump for creek bypass during the project. The City’s contractor dredged Belmont Creek, removing approx. 190 yards of silt and vegetation for ample water flow during the rainy season. Of the total silt and vegetation that was removed from the creek bed, approximately 30 yards will be recycled once the dirt has dried out. Staff prepped Hidden Canyon Park, by laying out plastic and wattles for the drying out process. This is to ensure the dirt doesn’t mix with the native dirt at Hidden Canyon Park. It will take approximately two weeks for the material to fully drain and be ready to haul away to OX Mountain Land Fill. |

| Ralston Avenue at Hallmark Drive Trail Maintenance The streets division performed repair and maintenance on the trail behind 2900 Belmont Canyon Road from Ralston Avenue to Hallmark Drive. This trail takes bicycle traffic, foot traffic, and Fox School kids and parents. Staff did some grinding and replacement of asphalt on the trail, replaced several damaged fence boards, and trimmed all overgrown vegetation hanging into the path. The trail is now much more user friendly for all those who pass. |
