Solid Waste Rate Revision for Collection Services for 2022 On September 28, 2021, the City Council adopted a resolution stating its intent to revise the maximum rates that may be charged for solid waste, recyclable materials, and organic materials collection services effective January 1, 2022. Each year, Recology proposes, City staff analyzes, and the City Council adopts solid waste rates that do not exceed Recology’s maximum rates. Recology is proposing an adjustment multiplier rate of 7.29%, which is the proposed 2022 rate increase to all the residential and commercial carts and bins. Over the next couple of weeks, City staff will be working with Recology to reduce the multiplier rate. A public hearing is scheduled for November 23, 2021, at 7:00 pm., via Zoom (https://belmontgov.zoom.us), and in person if permitted at One Twin Pines Lane, Belmont, CA 94002. Property owners will be receiving a flyer in the mail with more information about the rate process. If a lower rate increase is achievable, the final rate change will be presented to the City Council on November 23, 2021. You can watch the full presentation to Council here. |
