City & Boosters to Offer Concerts in the Park

After more than a year’s hiatus from the popular Concerts in the Park, the City of Belmont, in partnership with the Belmont Park Boosters, will be offering two outdoor concerts as part of its upcoming end-of-summer family events. The concerts will be held in the Meadow at Twin Pines Park, 10 Twin Pines Lane, Belmont, from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 29 and Sunday, September 19.

“It was obviously disappointing that we were unable to host a concert series in 2020, and because conditions changed so much in recent months of the pandemic, we were unable to hold a normal concert series this year,” said Park Boosters President Judy King. “Recently, City staff approached the Park Boosters about helping them to produce a few concerts in conjunction with the City’s Movie Nights in the Park series. The Park Boosters hopes that by next year we’ll be able to hold our normal concert series.”

"We are so pleased that the Belmont Park Boosters agreed to partner with the City to provide these concerts as a way to offer a fun and safe outdoor activity option to our community,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brigitte Shearer. “The City knows that with well over 40 years of experience, the Park Boosters know how host a successful event.”

Highwater Blues will be providing rhythm and blues at the August 29 concert, and Tinman will feature classic rock on September 19. These concerts are being sponsored by the Rotary Club of Belmont/Redwood Shores. “We are very grateful to the Rotary Club for their generosity,” said President King.

Seating is on the lawn (bring your own lawn chair or blanket), and most of the usual refreshments provided in previous years will be available for sale, including hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sausages, hotlinks, nachos and pretzels. Because the City of Belmont is the primary host, only non-alcoholic beverages will be available. All necessary safety protocols will be implemented.
