Police Looking for Suspicious Driver

Post Date:12/10/2019 8:31 PM

Contact: Captain Patrick Halleran, Public Information Officer - Belmont Police Department (650) 595-7430

Belmont Police are investigating a report by two teenage girls, that they were approached by an older male driver on Casa Bona Avenue who tried to have them get into his car, shortly before 4pm today.  The girls ran off when approached and the suspect fled.  The girls were not harmed.

The male driver reportedly rolled down the passenger window and called out to the girls "get in".  The girls told officers that when this happened, they immediately ran onto Semeria Av and the driver continued southbound on Casa Bona Avenue.

The girls described the vehicle as a black 4-door, possibly an SUV with tinted back windows.  One distinguishing feature described by the girls, was that the vehicleā€™s steering wheel had a cover with characters from the film "The Nightmare Before Christmas" on it.  The driver was described by the girls as a white male in his 60's-70's, with short blonde hair, wearing a yellow and green plaid shirt.

Belmont Police are actively investigating the incident and are asking for the public's assistance.  Anyone with information on this incident or the subject and his vehicle are asked to contact Belmont Police at (650) 595-7400 or police@belmont.gov.  Investigators are especially interested in home security video from the area, which may show the vehicle or suspect.
