Belmont City Council Appoints Tom McCune to Vacant Council Seat

Belmont, CA – At a Special Council Meeting on October 21, 2019 the Belmont City Council conducted a panel interview with the applicants for a vacated Council seat. The Council took action after the interviews and unanimously appointed Tom McCune to fill the seat which has a term ending in November 2020, effective immediately.This seat became vacant with the resignation of Doug Kim in September. The City Council advertised the opening and received 3 applications to serve the remainder of this term.
Mr. McCune has considerable experience in serving the Belmont Community. He is vacating a Planning Commission seat which he held since 2014 currently serving as chair for the second time. He previously served on the Finance Commission and the Infrastructure as hoc/Measure I Committee. He brings with him vast knowledge in infrastructure management, environmental management, financial management, city and strategic planning amongst other skills that will ensure continuity on the Council and Council priorities.

I served with him on the planning commission, where he was a well-respected voice and will bring valuable community insight to the decision making table for Belmont.”
