After-Hours Drop-Off's Set Up For Wildfire Victim Gift Card Project
Contact: Captain Patrick Halleran, Public Information Officer - Belmont Police & Fire Departments (650) 595-7430
The City of Belmont has joined with the Belmont Firefighters Association and the Belmont Police Officers Association in a gift card donation drive for the victims of the North Bay fires. In an effort to make it easier for the public to participate, two after-hours donation events have been set up this week.
This Friday, 10/27 between 5pm - 7pm and this Saturday 10/28 from 11am - 1pm, the doors to Belmont City Hall will remain open for people to come by and drop of gift cards for the North Bay fire victims. City staff will be on-hand to receive cards.
As a reminder, donated gift cards should be something that can be used in the impacted area. The regular drop off location and times are at Belmont City Hall in the Public Works Department, Suite 385, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to Noon, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm. The after-hours events are for this week only.
Donated cards will be given to the United Way in two regions impacted by the fires; United Way - Bay Area that supports Napa County, and the United Way -Wine Country that supports Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties. People can select the region they would like to support when they drop off their gift card.
Our hearts go out to those affected by the recent wildfires in Northern California. People that have been impacted by the Northern California fires are still in need, and recovery can last months. First responders from the Belmont Fire Department, and Belmont Police Department have been actively involved in mutual-aid response to the fire area.
The City of Belmont has also set up a Norcal Fire Relief webpage with other resources for volunteering and donations. For more information, go to http://www.belmont.gov/how-do-i-/contribute/norcal-fire-relief-effort
