About Our Park System

Belmont offers 14 developed parks on 31 acres along with 337 acres of open space for hiking, running, and bike riding. Peruse our sites below, or via our Printer-Friendly List of Parks and Amenities.

Hours of Operation

All parks and open spaces are open from 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset, unless otherwise specified. Find today's sunrise and sunset times here.

To preserve field quality/safety, athletic fields may close during and following inclement weather. Be sure to check field status before heading out.

Open Space Information

Did you know Waterdog Lake is named after a type of local species of salamander? A portion is also known as the John Brooks Memorial Open Space, Waterdog Lake Open Space has varying trail lengths and interesting features to explore. Enjoy the many ways to see Waterdog Lake by looking at the trail map. Trailheads are located at:  Hallmark & Lake Road; 2400 Lyall Way near Lake Rd & Lyall; and 2642 Carlmont Drive

This location is open from sunrise to sunset.   

Outdoor Safety and Etiquette

2. Announce yourself & stay alert- keep safe speeds, use only 1 earbud.

Leave No Trace: Anything you bring, take back with you, including trash. Or better yet, try "Plogging"!
4. No amplified sound
5. Stay on the marked trails and respect any closures.

Commercial activities (classes, professional photo shoots, etc.) are not permitted on City property. (Ord. No 533, § 1, 4-8-74; Ord. No. 2017-1121 , § 14, 8-22-17) Please contact the Parks & Recreation Department to look at options for providing services to the public.
