Message from the Fire Chief

Welcome to the Belmont Fire Department - we are new in name, but old in tradition.  Belmont Fire Department offers you a wide variety of services.

We are an “All-Risk” Fire Department responding to more than 2,400 calls for service each year.  Your Belmont Firefighters are trained to respond to all types of incidents, from Structure Fires, Emergency Medical Requests, Wildland Responses, Haz Mat Responses, public assists to name a few.  Your Fire Department provides 24-hour paramedic response from each of your two stations – One located at 2701 Cipriani (station 15) near Ralston Ave, and the other at 911 Granada Street (station 14) near Ralston Ave.  We also provide 24-hour Hazardous Materials Response for all 21 Cities in San Mateo County as well as the County unincorporated areas.  We have 24 Hazardous Materials Specialists or Technicians on duty – averaging 8 personnel per day.

Belmont Fire Department recently was re-formed after a 32-year absence due to the dissolution of a consolidated department known as Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department (formerly South County Fire Authority).  In April of 2010 the City of San Carlos gave notice to terminate and dissolve the department.  We have spent the last 18 months doing just that.  Separating the equipment in the stations as well as the personnel.  You have the best firefighters there are serving the community of Belmont.  These personnel are  part of your community we are part of Belmont.

This is your fire department, come and visit – Our administrative offices are located at Belmont City Hall on the 2nd Floor in the Public Safety Division of the City – shared offices with Belmont Police Department – a true partnership!  At Fire Station 14 we have Engine 14, cross-staffed with Truck 14, cross-staffed with Haz Mat 14.  The duty Battalion Chief is also located at this location.  At Fire Station 15 we have Engine 15 and reserve Engine 115.

Thank You for your support and look for the Belmont Fire Department throughout at city events – Come and say hello to the crews.
