Building Permit Submittal Requirements
Kitchen and Bathroom Upgrades —3 copies of a floor plan. The minimum size paper is 8½” x 11”. Indicate the location of new and existing appliances, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, gas outlets, electrical outlets, and lighting fixtures. If walls will be removed, indicate the direction of the ceiling joists.
Small Residential Additions & Alterations — 3 sets of plans that include a site plan, new and existing floor plans and elevations, section details, and structural drawings. The minimum size paper is 11” x 17”. If the Conventional Light Framing Provisions of the California Building Code are not used, then 2 copies of structural calculations are required. The California Energy Code requires proof of compliance either through Prescriptive Package D or by the computer method.
New Homes and Major Residential Additions & Alterations—Five sets of plans that include a site plan, grading and erosion control sheets, new and existing floor plans and elevations, section details, electrical, mechanical and structural drawings. Full size drawings are required. Two copies of a soils report, structural calculations, and energy calculations are also required.
Tenant Improvements—3 sets of plans that include a site plan, new and existing floor plans, section details, and structural drawings. The minimum size paper is 11” x 17”. In the event the site is not fully accessible for persons with disabilities, either the necessary improvements will have to be made or a hardship claim submitted. Compliance with the California Energy Code must be demonstrated either through prescriptive measures, which include the completion of forms LTG-1 & LTG-2, and if appropriate LTG 3-5, or through the computer method.
