Debris & Storage Boxes

What are Debris Boxes and Storage Containers?

debris box storage container

A debris box is a container used to dispose of waste materials derived from the construction, reconstruction, alteration or demolition of real property structures.  The material is placed into the debris box and hauled away for recycling or to be disposed of in a landfill.

Storage Containers are a moving and self-storage solution for local or long-distance moving.

Both of these boxes usually have to be in place for a few days if not longer before they are filled up and ready to be hauled away. These boxes vary in size, but are usually 7 or 8 feet wide, which makes them too wide for some of the streets here in Belmont. Ideally either of these would be placed behind the curb within the parking pad area or within the driveway.  It is important that the city is contacted prior to ordering one of these boxes to discuss the ability of it being delivered to the desired location. Failure to do so may result in a citation and additional expenses for its immediate removal. Please call Engineering at (650) 595-7425 to discuss placement or other alternatives.
