The Belmont Fire Protection District is an “All-Risk” department responding to more than 2,500 calls for service each year. The department’s twenty-one Firefighters are trained to respond to all types of incidents including fires, medical emergencies and hazardous materials incidents. Response times to most incidents must be under six minutes 85% of the time. Additionally, Fire Companies provide resources to assist in delivering community inspection services, public education and informational programs.
A Firefighter/Paramedic is placed on every fire apparatus within San Mateo County, including Belmont. Additionally, fire dispatching services have been combined through San Mateo County Public Safety Communications (PSC). This allows the closest fire unit to respond and provide paramedic level service, regardless of jurisdiction, resulting in effective and efficient services to the community.
