Public Hearing of the Belmont Fire Protection District to Consider a Resolution Adopting the Master Revenue Schedule for Fire Prevention Services Provided Within the Belmont Fire Protection District for 2013

Fire Chief Fry stated that this Hearing is to amend the fee schedule, and is intended to recover costs. He clarified that some fees have not changed, and some fees are new. He pointed out that the Government Code provides for the ability to charge for calls for fire-related services. In response to Director Braunstein, Fire Chief Fry clarified that some cities charge non-residents for responding to vehicle accidents and for business license inspections. He explained that fees for other services could be considered in future fee schedules. He further clarified that a false alarm fee is included in the current fee schedule, and the Department has the ability to charge for multiple false alarms. He pointed out that education on how to minimize false alarms can alleviate the imposition of fees for such false alarms.

Discussion ensued and Fire Chief Fry provided clarification regarding various fees.

Director Lieberman recommended eliminating the fee for copies of agendas and staff reports. The Board of Directors concurred.

Board President Warden opened the Public Hearing. No one came forward to speak.
