Belmont Appoints 20 for “Green” Advisory Committee
Belmont, CA -- After an overwhelming response to the formation of the new “Green Advisory Committee” the City Council of the City of Belmont has appointed 20 residents to serve on the committee. The Committee is formed of 11 community at-large members to serve alongside nine other representatives from various governmental and civic organizations.
Community members selected to serve on the committee are: Hartley Laughead, Stephen Kelley, Stephen Niksa, Dianne Keogh, Justin Hagler, Michael Swire, Risa Horowitz, Kelsi Perttula, Courtney Carreras, Robert Ledoux, and Adam Sevim. The rest of the committee is comprised of two City Council members, William Dickenson and Christine Wozniak, Planning Commissioner Rick Frautschi, Parks and Recreation Commissioner (TBD), Finance Commissioner Marcie Dompier, Neighborhood Association representatives Pierre St. Hilaire and Krista Kuehnhackl, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Vicki Padelford, and Sustainable San Mateo County representative Gladwyn D’Souza.
The Green Advisory Committee will formulate ideas to enhance the City’s efforts towards environmental sustainability. The Committee will provide valuable input and support the City’s action toward meeting/promoting:
- Energy efficiency and conservation
- Green Building Construction
- Waste reduction and recycling
- Climate-friendly purchasing
- Alternative energy and low-carbon fuels
- Sustainable land use and smart growth
- Individual and community action

The Green Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet monthly, probably in the evenings, and advise the City Council regarding “green” issues and opportunities that impact Belmont residents and our environment. “We received a great pool of Committee applicants” said City Manager Jack Crist. “The City of Belmont and the City Council takes environmental issues very seriously.”
