Belmont Firefighters Raising Funds for Charity
Contact: Captain Patrick Halleran (650) 595-7430
This Thursday, Belmont Firefighters will be hitting the street once again to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) as part of the annual “Fill the Boot Campaign”.
On Thursday, September 4th, Belmont firefighters will be at the intersection of Ralston Ave & Alameda de las Pulgas between 7:30 AM and 12:00 Noon, collecting donations for the MDA. To contribute, look for a firefighter with boot in hand, roll down your car window and put a donation into the boot.
100% of donations collected will be used by the MDA to fund services for patients and families suffering from any one of 43 neuromuscular diseases in the Bay Area. MDA provides medical clinics, support groups, summer camps, and various other services to patients and their families. The patients, if needed, are provided with wheelchairs, leg braces, breathing devices, speaking devices, and much more through MDA absolutely free of charge, thanks to generous donations made during events like “Fill the Boot”.
MDA and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) have been partners in the fight against neuromuscular disease since 1954. The “Fill the Boot” campaign is one of the primary ways fire fighters raise money for MDA.
Come by this Thursday and fill the boots of your local Belmont firefighters at the intersection of Ralston Ave & Alameda de las Pulgas. Together we can all help fight muscle disease!
