Contact: Captain Patrick Halleran (650) 595-7430
Belmont Police are seeking the public's help with the investigation of a collision involving a bicyclist and a pedestrian that occurred Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, August 24, 2014 at approximately 1:50PM, Belmont Police and Fire units responded to a report of a bicyclist down in the roadway on Ralston Ave and Davis Dr. Upon arrival, responders found that the bicyclist had actually collided with a pedestrian.
The bicyclist, a 62 year old San Francisco man, and the pedestrian, a 66 Belmont woman, were treated at the scene by Belmont Fire Department paramedics. The man was found to have minor injures and was not transported, but the woman was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but the following is known at this time. The bicyclist was eastbound on Ralston Ave, approaching Davis Dr. The pedestrian and her husband were on the southwest corner of the intersection, preparing to cross Ralston Ave. The bicyclist struck the woman shortly after she stepped off the curb and investigators would like to talk to anyone who witnesses the collision or the events leading up to it. Anyone with information is asked to call Belmont Police at 650-595-7400.
