Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting

Belmont Police responded to a fatal shooting that occurred early this morning at an apartment in the 500 block of Ralston Avenue. The investigation is on-going, but the following information is available at this time.
On Saturday 8/5/17 at approximately 5:15AM, Belmont Police responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment building located at 566 Ralston Avenue. Officers arrived within minutes and found several people outside the building. Belmont officers at the scene were assisted by units from the San Mateo Police and San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
The victim, an adult male, was found inside one of the apartments with a gunshot wound. The victim was treated at the scene by Belmont Fire Department paramedics, but was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim's identity has not been confirmed.
As of this press release, the scene is still being processed by Belmont Police and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Forensic Lab. Investigators from the Belmont Police and San Mateo County District Attorney's Office are interviewing witnesses. The suspect, an unidentified male is currently outstanding. There is no information at this time regarding any suspect vehicle.
